April 2018 April 2018

It was too much for the man, who simply nodded and walked away. He had only
gone a few yards when he felt a tug at his coat. Turning, he saw the boy, who
blurted out breathlessly, “I forgot to tell you, sir. I forgot to tell you He rose again.”
Any account of the Easter event that omits the earth-shattering message of the
empty tomb of Jesus has no good news on offer. So pivotal is the resurrection of
Jesus to His claim to be the Son of God, that Paul, the Apostle, bluntly declared,
“If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your
       faith.” (1Corinthians 15:14)
We are not invited to follow the example of a dead Messiah, who simply left a
legacy of a life of love. Rather we are called to discover the only One to
bankrupt death and strip away its power. As Jesus said, “I am the First and the
Last. I am the Living One. I was dead, and behold, I am alive for ever and ever!
And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” (Revelation 1:17-18
The little boy got it right. You need the whole story to complete the picture.
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son as an
atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10
We wish you a very blessed Easter, may we all have a fresh understanding of the
importance and the wonder of the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
       Christ.
                                                                   Joyce Healey
