GARDENING CLUB
Twenty four members came along to our
evening outing to Bellamont Topiary in
June. The weather forecast had not been
promising but held off for a sunny cool dry evening. We are treated to a really
special evening looking at all the topiary plants under development and a short
talk on the development of topiary through the centuries and problems of
coping with box blight and the lack of rain this year.
During the visit we were treated to a potted history of the development of
Bellamont House and given an opportunity to enjoy looking at this really unusual
building even if it is only 25 years old. The house nestles into the landscape in the
bride valley looking south over the Hills a very pretty part of Dorset. The interior
rooms were decorated and furnished with the most fabulous colourful furniture
and paintings. I think it was one of our best evening expeditions and I know all
our members had a memorable night.
Next month we are back in the Drax Hall for a summer evening drinking Pimms
and a talk by Charlotte Fyfe on Keeping hens in the Garden
By the time you read this you will probably have visited our stand at Bere Fest
where we are holding a Mini show and a plant stall. We hope to see everyone
there.
