PURBECK COAST TRACTOR RUN 2019

Local farmer Philip Trim raises money for
Dorset Cancer Centre in memory of his
late wife Jane
Seeing first-hand how much support the NHS gave to
Jane, myself and our son Ben, throughout her illness, we
wanted to give something back to the people that
cared for her and supported us so much as a family. Ben
said to his mum he wanted to do a charity tractor run on
her birthday and raise money for The Sandbanks Ward and so the idea of the
Purbeck Coast Tractor Run was born!
So, on the weekend of the 3rd August 2019, on what would have been Jane’s
birthday, the Purbeck Coast Tractor Run took place! We had lots of support from
businesses and people pledging sponsorship and donations and offers of help to
make the event happen.
The event was a great success! The
tractor run had a super attendance

given that it was harvest time, with
some 139+ tractors of all ages, makes
and models on the run and 5 of them
had large passenger trailers loaned to
us from Kingston Maurward.

Three vintage tractors even travelled
down from Buckingham – the “Three
Mad Birds and their tractors” got
sponsorship for the event and their 140
-mile journey, which they kindly split
between our charity and their local cancer charity. At 14mph their journey down
was achieved in around 12 bum-numbing hours!!
The 40 mile tractor run set off

from Throop at 9am and took in
Bovington, Wool, Lulworth and
Kimmeridge, then it was off road
over to Worth Matravers and
Harmans Cross, along the hilltops
of Corfe Castle to Stoborough,
and back along the Puddletown
Lane to arrive back at Throop
Hollow Farm around 3.30pm. The
