Despite the warnings that we have received about bad weather coming our
way and some early morning frosts resulting from these forecasts, spring is with us. Services
Trees are in leaf, including hawthorn, sycamore, several species of willow and of Building maintenance
course the blackthorn which is different to these other species and insists on General joinery
producing its flowers before its leaves. What a show it has produced with its white
blossoms this year. Also it looks as if some of the ash trees are about burst their Garden maintenance
buds and produce leaves. The oaks on the other hand are not showing any sign Garden landscaping
of coming into leaf. So I hope this does not activate the saying:-
Kitchens
The oak before the ash, we will only get a splash. Man and digger hire
The ash before the oak we will surely get a soak.

The trees are not the only plants of the countryside, which are worth noting at this
time of year. Certain flower species are very conspicuous this year compared
with past times, despite the warnings of our meteorologists, to expect cold
conditions.
As I have previously mentioned, celandines are prolific this year and despite
normally being a fairly short lived and fairly delicate flower, this year they are very
abundant and long lived, creating a wonderful display. Primroses too are in
magnificent display and are flowering over a considerable period, as are wild
white and blue violets.
Also worth mentioning again are the snow flakes, which are dependent on a
damp environment. They are in excellent and copious display, even spreading
