29 ROGS and three guests battled the wind and rain around the fairways of East Scout Group Publicity: Andrea Marshall on 01929 472588 and Helen Unitt-Jones on
Dorset Golf & Country Club. The morning started with bacon baguettes and the 01929 472273.
new Captain, Spaldy, and the President, Tiny (Outgoing Captain), selected their
players for the Ryder cup format of the day. The 1 group of the day was in it’s
st
normal format, Captain versus President.
The result of the annual match was a resounding victory for the President (I should
make it clear here, I mean the President’s team…., by 9 to 7. Well done Tiny!! Not
the best of starts for the Captain to his new tenure!
It was a normal monthly stableford competition too. The victor for this month was
Triston Gale with 37 points well done to Triston. Second was Mark Clapcott with 34
points and third on countback was Graeme Price with 33 points.
The best guest was Stuart Henson with 35 points.
There were 2 nearest the pin’s on the day and they were won by Peter Foster and
Josh Eastwood. Josh also won the nearest the pin in 2. However, he did not win the
longest drive (although he thought he had), which was won by Julian Flower and
it was one of my proudest moments as Captain so far to present him with his
award.
Peter Foster converted his nearest the pin for a 2, which was the only one of the
day. He donated his winnings to the Captains charity, which is greatly
appreciated.
The evening bash was very well supported again, and a special thanks goes to
Guy Storey for most of the arrangements (as ever). And my new Vice Captain, Neil
Middleditch for his help before and during the day.
The evening was celebrated in usual ROGS fashion with the prize giving ceremony
after dinner. The highlights were as follows:
Highest individual score Callum Crompton at Weymouth 41 points
Summer Knock Out Winner - Gordon Tucker
