 SATURDAY COFFEE SHOP ANNIVERSARY

 Amazing as it may seem the Saturday Morning Coffee Shop held in the Diamond
 Jubilee room  of  Briantspuddle  Hall  will  be  celebrating  10  years  of  serving  cake,   Baptism
 coffee and bacon rolls this April.   25  February      Emilia Chan

 After  the  beautiful  refurbishment  and  extension  to  the  Hall  the  provision  of  a
 weekly Coffee Shop for residents was suggested by Ken Kilbank. As Jenny Beedle   Thanksgiving and Blessing of Marriage
 and Angie Talbot already served coffee and cakes at the monthly Book Swap, it

 was decided to carry Ken’s initiative forward. Along with Andrea Smith and Cindy   25  February      Nicholas Chan and Rebecca Dodd

 In 2013 some ex and some serving members of the Hall Trustees got together and

 decided  to  form  a  group  which  would  be  dedicated  to  the  community,  its   17  February      Monica Jarvis
 wellbeing and social cohesion. The Community Group was founded!
 As  well  as  the  Coffee  Shop  and  Book  Swap,  a  community  lunch  was  set  up.   St Laurence, Affpuddle
 Advice and help came from a joint NHS and local authority initiative - Partnership   Funeral
 for Older People Project (POPP). Over the years our non-profit making efforts have

 provided  regular  rental  income,  as  well  as  donations  and  contributions  to  the   6  March      Joy Barrett
 upkeep  and  smooth  operating  of  the  Hall  and  its  activities.  None  of  this  would
 have been possible without the support of the many willing helpers we have had
 over the years.          REMINDER
 Visitors  to  the  area  are  surprised  and  delighted  to  discover  such  a  welcome
 facility in our small village. Latterly and in the current difficult financial climate, we
 have been able to provide a warm, safe and welcoming space for all.   To all secretaries and organisers of village clubs and events
