Looking further on into this year we have also been giving some thought to
Christmas and are determined to bring as much of Christmas as possible to our Wiliam Ames 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
community. On that note here is some advance notice of events we are hoping Alfred Applin 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
to be able to hold. Specific times and dates to be confirmed. Fred Bartlett 62 Pioneer Bn
We are hoping to be able to hold our annual Christmas fair again this year albeit Fred Bartlett 1 Gordon Highlanders
somewhat differently to previous years. We are hoping to have stalls outside under Fred Brierley 7 Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry
cover in the car park and on the grass area between the jubilee room and the Charles Bright 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
shop. The main hall will be laid out the same as on café days and you will still be
able to enjoy a turkey roll Henry J Bright 24 Bn Royal Fusiliers
and some mulled wine Harry Brown 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
along with a few other Fred Burgess Royal Army Service Corps
beverages to warm you William J Burt 15 Bn Hampshire Regiment
up having visited the stalls.
Charles V Churchill 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
Unfortunately Santa won’t Percy N Cobb Royal Field Artillery
be able to join us this year
as it’s absolutely essential Arthur Crabbe 7 Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry
he remains in the best health possible for his busy workload at Christmas itself. Percy Cox 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
William Cox HMS Good Hope
Previous years the community group have laid on an absolutely splendid
Christmas lunch. We cannot hold the same party but through the village hall café Fred J Davis 3 Toronto Regt Canadian Expeditionary Force
it is our intention to hold a few Christmas lunches for smaller numbers. These will be Frank George 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
available to anyone in the parish who would like to attend whatever your age. Fred Johnson 28Bn Canadian Expeditionary Force
We will close the morning café events and instead open for pre booked Christmas
lunches. Percy Lockyer 1 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
William Lockyer 1 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
As things stand at the moment you will be able to book tables seating from one to
six people. We will have a maximum capacity of 24 people each time and the Frank Miller 6 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
lunch will consist of a welcome drink a three course traditional Christmas lunch, Herbert F Morris 1Bn Canadian Expeditionary Force
some specific dietary requirements will be catered for, and tea and coffee to Walter Rawles 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
finish off with. We are really pleased to be able to tell you that the village William Rowland Royal Fusiliers
community shop have generously agreed to sponsor these events and so for
anyone who who is over 55 and would’ve been able to attend previous years the Charles Stickley 1 Coldstream Guards
charge will be £4 and for all others it will be £6. Henry C Stickley 2 Welsh Guards
Herbert Trevett Canadian Expeditionary Force
Hopefully a modest price that will provide a great time for all those attending. We
have provisionally set aside two dates for this but will add other dates if demand William White 5 Bn Dorsetshire Regiment
requires it so that no one will be excluded due to full house bookings. Please book
your places as early as possible to enable us to be properly prepared. You will 1939-1945
need to tell me at the point of booking who will be on your table and that won’t
be able to be changed. Conversing with other tables sadly is currently prohibited George H Bowditch Coldstream Guards
but hopefully won’t spoil the atmosphere too much. In the event regulations Fred G W Lovell Royal Artillery
prevent the lunches from going ahead. Full refunds will be made to everyone. Leslie Whiteside RAF Volunteer Reserve
