         Beaver News

Although we have had 2 sessions in the Scout Hut recently, we are mainly out
and about in the youngest section this term. Beavers have been working
towards their Safety Badge - visiting the Fire Station (and having a go with the
hose!) and then going to the RNLI in Poole to see how the lifeboats are built
and how they are used across the world. Many thanks to both the Fire Fighters
in Bere Regis; and to Yeo (Akela of the Lilliput Sea Scout cub pack in Poole)
who took us on a tour of the RNLI.
We are also climbing at Buddens this half term, again thanks to Tim and Dean
from our district who have volunteered to run this activity for us - this is for the
Adventure Challenge badge - for which the Beavers have to complete
adventurous activities! As well as this we have been learning reef knots and
pioneering skills for the Camp Craft Badge, and all the Beavers are trying to do
a Sport or physical activity regularly for the Sports Badge.
We also held a sleepover in May at the Scout hut, to enjoy the experience of
camping in tents - but inside.... along with campfire songs and other
activities. We have had one new Beaver this term, and one Beaver who has
achieved the Chief Scouts Bronze award (the highest that a Beaver can attain)
         - so we are thriving as a colony and it is great fun for both leaders and Beavers.
