CHURCH GUIDED TOURS
We plan to offer guided tours for visitors again this
year similar to the last few years on Tuesday
mornings and Thursday afternoons, starting in May. It
will be possible as long as we have enough
volunteers - hopefully many of our present team -
but would appreciate a few more to spread the
load. Could it be YOU?

are anxious to protect these beautiful and graceful birds. This means that a
program of thatch work has to be carefully worked out so that no nests are
disturbed or returning migrants put off. Our work is also complicated by grant
organisations timetables and completion targets.
We are also hoping to improve draught exclusion in the main Hall, and the blinds
need attention. The proposed double sink is still on our list for the future as are
curtains/blinds for the meeting room. So we have enough to be keeping us busy
for a while.
Fundraising
Today I have informed the Open Gardens website that we will not be having this
event in Briantsuddle/Affpuddle/Throop this year. Although it was such a great
success last year this event is always weather dependent and it’s too much hard
work to expect people to do it every year. I therefor propose that we try another
Open Gardens in 2019 if people feel willing by then!
Hirings/Booking Secretary
By the time you read this we shall/ may have lost our invaluable booking secretary.
(Through no fault of our own I hasten to add)In this case Allan Smith will step in for
the time being to cover the post till Sue can be replaced. So for bookings ring
Allan on 01929471412, contact him at 7 Bladen Valley, DT2 7HP or go to the
Briantspuddle community website and follow links to the Village Hall.
If anyone out there would be happy to take on the role of booking secretary for
the Hall, , or would simply like to know what the post entails please contact Allan
as above, or Jenny Lightfoot on 01929471498. You do not need to take on the
responsibility of becoming a trustee to fill this post.
Finally
This year sees the Centenary of the end of
the Great War. The Hall Committee hope to
mark this important time; we would like to
hold a small exhibition of memorabilia to
commemorate the War and a tea and
dance to celebrate its end. We are giving
early notice of this as:
 We would like people to come
forward with anything that pertains to
this period of history, and
