A LETTER FROM YOUR ASSOCIATE PRIEST
Dear friends
Well, the very changeable weather seems to have announced that summer is
most definitely here! We began the week driving through the floods to Poole and
ended it baking at the cricket! Hampshire have had some very pleasing results
recently and we wait to see if they fulfil their potential this year and get to the
T20Blast quarter finals, it all depends on later results of other teams. There is a new
cricket competition starting at the end of July called The Hundred, we are going
to see Southern Brave verses Northern Superchargers in August, both the women’s
and men’s teams, it will be interesting to see how different it is and whether the
rules are any easier to understand – I think the main thing is it will be quicker.
Anyway, I’ll let you know in September, if I remember. The sport is great at the
moment, we even watched a couple of football games on the TV recently,
unheard of in our house usually.
Sorry if sport is not your thing but there’s lots coming up – The Lions in South Africa,
the golf and cycling have just finished and then there is the ‘cherry on top’ to look
forward to The Olympics. Graham and I were lucky enough to get tickets for the
2012 Games, they were in less popular sports such as water polo and handball
but thrilling all the same. We were in Hyde Park for the Triathlon and just about
saw tops of athlete’s heads go by, I think Tokyo will be very different with no
