Wareham Choral Society are seeking to appoint a trainee/ FIRST THURSDAY CLUB
 assistant conductor
       (AUTUMN LEAVES)
Would you like to try out conducting with a friendly group of people? Are you
interested in sitting in on rehearsals, assisting with warm ups, conducting some
pieces, with feedback from a more experienced conductor? Would you like to We are still meeting and now in our 51st year as a
deputise and take rehearsals occasionally, and have a chance to conduct part of club. The Autumn Leaves are still coming along
a concert or lead part of a ‘workshop day’? every month along with a few more new regulars.
It’s great to see new faces. There were 33 of us in
       October.

Our talk was underwater in Dorset. Janey Gordon started diving after trying it out
on holiday, and after mastering the complexities of managing to breathe and the
experience of a weightless environment, she fell in love with it. The sea off the
Dorset Coast is full of fascinating sights. We have as many varieties of rock
underwater as we have above the water. This has created many different rock
formations and caves. This results in many different underwater plants which
provide a rich habitat for a variety of sea creatures in abundance.
Another fact is the sheer number of wrecks off our coast and some are still very
much visible after decades of immersion. All are encrusted and surrounded with
                                                  sea life. One was a
                                                  submerged tank which sank
after failed exercises for D day.
We were shown fish crabs and
                                                  lobsters and a large basking
This is a position to help a beginner/early stage conductor gain skills and shark. This was an interesting
experience. This position is open to all ages. Maybe you’ve found yourself standing glimpse into another very
