       DORSET COUNCIL- WEST PURBECK REPORT

       Dorset Tourism Awards
       Durlston Country Park, which is
owned and run by Dorset Council,
received a Gold award in the
       Access and Inclusivity category
       recognising the hard work of
       rangers and volunteers to ensure
that as many people as possible
       can enjoy this beautiful, wildlife-
rich site. Durlston offers a great
range of facilities for visitors with
       disabilities, including British Sign
Language Tours, Tramper off-road mobility vehicles and Easy-read and Large Print
publications, along with a wide range of accessible volunteer opportunities

       Climate Change
Eunomia, an independent environmental consultancy, put us at the very top of
over 300 councils in their annual Local Authority Carbon Index, recognising our
efforts in reducing our carbon footprint when dealing with waste. And Friends of

the Earth recently placed Dorset in their Top 20 most climate-friendly areas in
England and Wales, assessing us against categories including renewable energy,
home energy efficiency and waste recycling.

       West Lulworth
Traffic calming measures continue with the appearance of white lines indicating
pinch points on the main road (by Launches and just past the Castle Inn). The aim
is to highlight that the road narrows and is only suitable for single line of traffic. We
will monitor these and can amend if needed, but once again are really grateful
to our highways colleagues for working with us to continue to improve the traffic
       situation in the village.

       Wool Dropped Kerbs
Following close cooperation between Wool Parish Council and Dorset Council
seven dropped kerbs have recently been installed to improve pedestrian access
and help people get around the village more easily. This is a great example of us
all working together to get things done, with particular thanks to Jacqui the Wool
Parish Clerk for really driving this, and our highways team for their efficiency and
       speed.
