June 2023 June 2023

It was lovely to welcome Dr Richard Hall and
The Barn Singers who led a service of
Evensong in St Laurence’s, Affpuddle on the
Wednesday before the coronation. There was
       a good-sized congregation and afterwards
everyone enjoyed the refreshments and the
       chance for a sociable chat.
At St John the Baptist, Bere Regis the bellringers
rang on the morning of the coronation and
included the new ‘Kings Peel’ written
especially for the occasion. A very big thank
       you to them.
There was also a Songs of Praise on Sunday
       afternoon, followed by refreshments.
Thanks to everyone involved in anyway.

       Rogation

The weather was amazing for our Rogation Family Service on 14 May at the
                                                                   th
Scout Headquarters. The children planted mustard and sunflower seeds which
we hope will grow and those members of the congregation who came early
enough were encouraged to plant some seeds too! Paul Martin played his
accordion for the hymns and thanks to Sharon Pipe we had music for the puppet
songs and action songs via her car as our CD player has given up on us!
At 4pm there was a more traditional (to Bere Regis parish) Rogation service
followed by the Annual Church Meetings. Sarah Welton agreed to continue as
Churchwarden and a vote of thanks was led by Ted Cox to acknowledge all the
hard work that Sarah puts in. Thank you to all those who have agreed to be on
the PCC for the next year.

What’s coming up in the parish…
