LETTER FROM OUR ASSOCIATE PRIEST

When the restrictions in Mays Wood suddenly
came in, I was as surprised, cross and hurt, as
every other dog walker. Morning routes had to
be changed to accommodate the closures
and some of the joy had gone out of walking
locally. However, I will be the first to admit that
it has gradually been a refreshing change.
That’s because the bluebells on Black Hill have
been particularly stunning this year and I have
had the chance to really take them in and I’ve
seen three orchids as well. It’s been a lovely
surprise and I realise that I would have missed
all this if I’d only walked the well-worn paths of
Mays Wood.
But you don’t have to tramp all the way up to
Black hill to see nature blooming. We have our
very own special eco system right in the
middle of the village, and not just down by the
Bere Stream but in the churchyard.
