                                                 GARDENING CLUB

It has been a late spring this year and
temperatures have been down on average. I
made the terrible mistake of not getting down to
cutting my grass early enough and have been
struggling with a jungle but am getting there. There is now just so much to do now
the weather is better and you feel like being outside. Maybe I am just getting
older and the garden is steeper and it just seems harder. Hopefully by the time
you read this, temperatures will be warmer and we will have all tackled the
undone work. (Gardening is never done)
In May we were treated to a talk by Brian Hesketh. He gave us a very enthusiastic
talk about the benefits of Organic Gardening. Organic is better for you, it is
natural, nothing extra, and a great depression beater. Organic is better for wildlife
nothing nasty and we need wildlife, it all has a place. Organic tastes better.
What better vegetables can you have than those which have been grown
naturally and picked minutes before you eat them.
He talked a great deal about the importance of soil health. Look after the unseen
