Gt. Western ‘STEAM’ Museum & Swindon Designer Outlet –
Saturday 23 February
I’m pleased to say that Ness Hubbard has agreed to take on the running of our
outings club from now on and I do hope you’ll want to go on the trips she’ll
organise every 2 months.
The next trip is to the fabulous Great Western Steam Railway Museum at Swindon
on Saturday 23 February.
‘STEAM’ – is housed in a beautifully restored Grade II listed railway building in the
heart of the former Swindon Railway works. Located right next to Swindon’s
Designer Outlet (savings of c.60%!), the museum tells the story of the men and
women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway. We’ll
see famous locomotives, ‘drive’ a train on the simulator and even work the signals
in the interactive GWR signal box!
They’ll be time to visit the famous adjoining designer outlet also, and save money
over high street shop prices. You can even choose just to shop and miss the
museum.
We’ll leave Lytchett Matravers at 09.15 to arrive c.11.00 and leave Swindon at
16.00. Tickets are £26 for coach and museum, or £19 if you just want to shop.
