Marbles All That Glitters is not Gold
(A Message for my Grandsons)
There was a hole in the bottom of
my bag. Don’t throw away your old football boots,
I lost them all, one by one. Even though the stitching has gone.
If you do not look after your marbles You’ll never make it to the end of a match,
You will wake up one day, and If you’ve got your new boots on.

Unusual Pets
Seasons
Vampire Bat When sunny summertime is here
"You cannot have a pet like that," And the days are warm as you
my mother said to me, please
"'cause if you had a vampire bat, I’d like to be a little bird
what would it have for tea?" Flitting cheekily through the trees.
"You could not give it bread or cake, But when the Winter’s days are bleak
it has such special needs From the chill winds I try to hide
and who would clear up in its wake, Then I am grateful that I am me
it's messy when it feeds?" Sitting cosily, here inside.
And so a vampire, I will not get,
I have to please my mother Eileen Richardson
Yet how can she hate such a pet,
yet keep my little brother?
