GARDENING CLUB
We had a great day at Bere fest with
a number of entries in the Mini show. I
hope everyone enjoyed taking part.
A special thank you to Di Pitts and
Enid Leigh of bere Regis WI for judging
the cookery and to Robin Pitcher for judging the Flowers and vegetables. Many
thanks, to the ladies who sold plants for our funds. I was also very pleased wit the
success of our cut price membership offer for the rest of the year. We had
several members renew and some new members.
The result of this was seen at our July meeting when we had a record turnout for
Charlotte Popescu talking about keeping chickens in the Garden. We all learnt
something and particularly all the different types of chickens there were. The
members were treated to a glass and Pimms and nibbles.
We do not have a meeting in August but there are two shows Briantspuddle 50
th
rd
anniversary show on Saturday 3 August at Bladen Social Club show secretary,
Selwyn McGrorty 15 Briantspuddle. The other show is Winterborne Kingston on
Saturday 10 August at the Village Hall show secretary Joan Nash 01929 471559
th
2 Bush Park Winterborne Kingston. Please try to support the shows. I have
schedules for both shows
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 3
rd
September at the Drax Hall and it
is a talk by James Feaver entitled
‘Food for Free - foraging for wild
food’. With all the blackberries,
crabapples, rose hips sloes and
mushrooms about, this will surely
be very interesting. I look forward
to seeing our members and
visitors at the Drax Hall at 7.30 p.m
