Our Cottage POETRY
Old dark exposed beams, CORNER
New shiny paint that gleams.
A happy home for dreaming dreams,
For planning plans and scheming We’re very glad that we settled here,
schemes. Amongst the friendly folk of Bere.
We will look forward to the coming
A little village and the hills, year,
Cosily nestled from winter’s chills. In this rural corner of Dorset so dear.
The evening quiet as traffic stills,
And rain on thatch drips and spills. Eileen Richardson
Autumn Lullaby
The air is so still – just a gentle breeze
Stirring the leaves, now gold and brown on the trees.
Soft, fluffy clouds float by in the sky
As the garden birds sing an Autumn lullaby.
The temperature pleasant, thanks to September sun,
So warm it doesn’t seem that Autumn has begun.
Some trees look partly clothed – where leaves have been shed,
While others look resplendent in dress of gold and red.
Hoverflies gently alight on late flowers,
Gathering their harvest in these late Autumn hours.
The daisies offer pollen to a passing bee,
A butterfly flits by, in Nature’s harmony.
So much we could learn from Nature as a Season ends,
If we all lived in harmony, as neighbours and friends.
Working together for all, in a universal plan,
Each giving what he can, to the benefit of Man.
