October LETTER FROM OUR VICAR
Dear friends
1TC
Probably one of the most well-known hymns ever is ‘All things bright and
beautiful’. It is probably the one hymn that many of us could sing instantly – go
on, have a go!
8th Open demonstration Lucy Ellis ‘Limelight’ All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
PC 10th All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
JC 13th Harvest with soup lunch Written by Mrs Cecil Alexander and first published in 1848, it speaks of the beauty
of God’s creation and of our place in caring for it. So it has been around for over
175 years – no wonder we know it so well. And it was possibly inspired by verses
SP 17th Sausage and mash or liver and bacon, Treacle tart from Psalm104, which have been around for nearly 3000 years:
16th Using a Defibrillator - Sarah Ackerman “O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the
earth is full of your creatures. Yonder is the sea, great and wide, creeping things
innumerable are there, living things both small and great: Psalm 104: 24 – 25
This month in both of our churches we have the opportunity to celebrate the
beauty of creation, and indeed to sing the hymn ‘All things bright and beautiful’.
